First EuroPython
I attended EuroPython in Prague for the first time. It was a great conference where I got the chance to meet so many people from such diverse communities ✨ It was also my first time volunteering at the Django booth (and yes, I said "first time" twice, because everything felt new and exciting!). Plus, we celebrated Django’s 20th birthday!
Open Space for Organisers
It was a great opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with other community organizers. Since organizing a conference requires months of preparation, exchanging ideas and best practices was extremely helpful. Great discussion.
Social events
Almost every evening, there was a social event to join. All of them were really close to the venue, which made it easy to attend and find more people joining last minute. One evening ended with a nice Pivo 🍺 and a Django birthday cake. I also had my first ever salsa lesson during the Thursday social event, what a fun surprise!
A special mention goes to the Pyladies lunch: such a lovely atmosphere, wonderful people, and great food.
Unconference
After the conference, I joined the Beginner's Day and took part in the Unconference. It featured amazing panelists sharing their experience entering the job market. There was also a small workshop, where we discussed in groups led by experienced mentors. At the end of the day, participants gave lightning talks about their journey. I was hesitant at first, but the welcoming environment gave me the courage to get on stage and share my path into IT.
Conclusions
Meeting new people, discovering new communities, and reconnecting with friends, that’s what I appreciated the most. Representing Django at the booth was an honor. I was a bit nervous, but I knew I could count on the team’s support. A big thank you to all the organisers, volunteers, and supporters who helped make EuroPython such a success. That’s what I love most about the Python community: there’s always someone willing to help you if you need it ❤️🐍
